When you purchase a new appliance from a Pattersons store, we encourage you to choose our professional in-home delivery service so that your appliance can make it to your home safely and be properly installed. We also take your old appliance away, saving you the hassle of figuring out where to put it or how to dispose of it.
Our delivery technicians are trained in how to give you the best delivery and installation experience possible, but there are some ways that you can make it even better! Check out our tips for a great appliance delivery experience below.
Measure for Easy Maneuvering
Before you purchase your appliance, measure your doorways, entryways, hallways, and staircases to ensure that the appliance you’ll bring home will fit through these areas. These will also give you an idea of the path our delivery guys will need to take when bringing your appliance to its new home. Be sure to measure the height as well as the width so our delivery techs will be aware of areas lower than the height of your appliance.
Establish the Safest Path
On the day of your delivery, do a quick walk-through of the path our delivery techs will take to remove your old appliance and bring in your new one. Ensure that there is plenty of room for our delivery truck to park and easy access to your house’s door. Paths with a lot of twists and turns can be difficult depending on the size of the appliance, so finding the most direct path from your door to the appliance’s placement is helpful. You’ll also want to check that any furniture or other home items are out of the way so they won’t be in danger of getting accidentally damaged.
Make Plans for Children and Pets
If you have small children or pets, make sure that they are safely secured where they won’t accidentally end up in the path of the appliance delivery. Pets can be excited about new people in the house and may interrupt the safe placement of your appliance, while small children may be curious and unaware that they could be hurt during the appliance delivery. This is also a good idea if your pets are known to be aggressive or protective when new people are in your home.
Prepare Your Old Appliance for Removal
Regardless of what appliance it is that you are having replaced, having it ready for removal is key to making your new appliance delivery a better experience. Your refrigerator should be cleared of food (use a cooler with a bottom layer of ice during the transfer), anything on top of it placed elsewhere for now, and decor such as magnets should be taken off. Freezers should also be cleared of food in the same manner as refrigerators. Appliances such as washers and dishwashers should be as drained of water as possible, and stoves shouldn’t be used for cooking at least one hour before removal. Taking steps such as these will make the delivery process faster and more efficient while lowering the risk of potential accidents.
Allow Yourself Plenty of Time
While our delivery techs do everything possible to ensure that your appliance delivery, installation, and removal is a quick process, sometimes unseen circumstances occur. Prepare for that by scheduling your delivery for a time where you won’t feel rushed. Our delivery techs also make a point to show each customer the various functions of their new appliance, so the more time you can make for your delivery, the better.
Prepare Any Questions You May Have Before Delivery
Before your new appliance arrives, consider all of the questions you may have and write them down. We understand that some questions may not arise until after you’ve seen your appliance installed and active, but anything you can think of beforehand will make the entire process quicker. We always welcome customer questions and do our best to answer them while we are there.
